Some random notes about our renovation of a barn and cottage in the Dordogne.

Our shower trays have been made from the terracotta tiles.
The shower has been tiled with the panels of small tiles. They have also built a shelf for the sink to sit on.
another pic of the 3rd bathroom
The 3rd bathroom is looking good.
The 2nd bathroom. They have plastered the wall on the inside. We are leaving it like this rather than tiling it.
The tiles are making their way through the house.
The tiles are up in the master bathroom (well some of them at least). They are fantastic!
The bathroom fittings! We found out that the small sinks that we ordered are almost a meter in diameter... Im sure that they looked small in the pictures...
A lot less tiles than there were before - I still think that there will be lots left over.
Tiled hallway
The new wall! This area is now a real sun trap! They are going to split the shutter in two so that it folds in on itself and closes properly against the new wall.
The (almost) finished kitchen tiling
The tilers have grouted the tiles where the kitchen will be - you can see the before (right) and after (bottom left) views
The tiles are down in the salon !! They still need grouting

Kitchen is tiled!!!!!
Nothing to say!!!!
Piles of tiles.
The master bathroom under construction.
Another step - into the 2nd bedroom.
Bathroom 2 tiles going on.
WOW! Bathroom 3 tiles are up (well mostly)
Creating the shower drains. The showers will have tiled bases.
Still no damn fireplace...
Third bedroom - tilers are busy!!
We have now got tiled steps into the barn. Not sure where the shutters have gone?

This is the field out the back. I met our neighbour (who was parked in our drive when I arrived) who is building a house in this field. He came back an hour later with the plans. It looks like it will be a stunning property. We've agreed that we will practice our language skills on each other.
Mr Eydely is the partition wall man. He should be building us a false fireplace in plasterboard so that we can see the size we want for the real one.
I layed out the tiles in the pattern that we will be having throughout the barn. They look fantastic!
The plasterer said it was like a puzzle. The tiler just shook his head and grinned (so he should at the price he is charging to lay them...)
